Church/Hotel Plan Questioned By Residents in Adams-Morgan

The First Church of Christ, Scientist may be redeveloped as part of a Marriott boutique hotel in partnership with Ian Schrager.  So far, so good.  Except that the hotel portion of the project is a rather ugly nine storied box of glass and concrete.  The project does have certain merits, chief among them being that a hotel would actually be good for the neighborhood in certain respects.  There are those who will complain about anything being proposed for their neighborhood, be it a sidewalk cafe or a multi-story parking garage.  I am aware of the traffic and parking concerns voiced by many residents, but this is, after all, a city.  In an urban environment, such things are expected and should be dealt with accordingly.  Without the hotel (originally proposed as condominiums), the future of the building is cloudy.  I will try to find an online rendering to post here.
