I get into the Naples port early in the morning. I am generally familiar with the area as I have stayed in Sorrento, Capri, etc. I really hate to spend great amounts of money on ship excursions when I usually do things on my own and see more. Anyone have any suggestions on getting around the area cheaper. My wife hasn't seen anything in this part of Italy so I would like to go back to Pompei, Vesuvius, etc. Any helpful ideas.

A couple of years, someone in Stockholm gave me the bus route and suggestions for his city. It was the best trip I have had without going with other tourists.
