I was just wanting to know everyone's thoughts on Springfield, MO.  The MSA has been the second fastest growing metro in the midwest for at least a couple of years, and the city of Springfield is now the largest Springfield in the US with a population of 156,206 (The city expects to hit 200,000 by 2020 with the current annexation plan).  For the last couple of years Springfield has gained about 1,300 people a year, and the metro averages a gain of about 10,000 a year.  The current population of the Metro is 426,166, and the Springfield-Branson CSA (not officail yet) is 506,000.  The metro population is expected to eclipse the 450,000 mark by 2011.  A lot of the population gain is due to the amount of colleges and universities in Springfield.  Missouri State University (21,000 students), Drury University (5,000), Ozarks Technical Community College (10,000), and many more.  All three of the major colleges are located in and around Downtown Springfield, and the Midtowne District.  This has lured many new bars, restaurants, lofts, condos, music venues, movie theaters to downtown making Springfield an attractive choice for college students in Missouri and surrounding states.

Anyways, I'm just wanting to get some opinions from people who live in other states in the midwest.
