This just flat out sucks for New London and Fort Trumbull. I really hope that something can be done here that will benefit the city and the region. I can't imagine that a company would take over this complex but maybe if they subdivide it they can sign some leases. At least these jobs are going to Groton and the overall impact on the state should be minimal.

Hartford Courant: Pfizer Inc. Plans To Vacate Its R & D Center In New London

Pfizer Inc. will shut down its global research and development headquarters in New London within two years, transplanting most of the 1,400 employees working there to its vast laboratory complex in Groton, the most dramatic fallout yet from the pharmaceutical giant's recent merger with Wyeth.

New York-based Pfizer said Monday that it will try to sell or lease the 750,000-square-foot New London headquarters, opened near Fort Trumbull less than a decade ago at a cost of nearly $300 million.

Yeah, they are actually moving to Groton though, so its not all that bad.  these people wont loose jobs, they will just have a slightly different commute.

I think the building will be rennovated into Apartments or condos.  great location if you dont mind driving into downtown.

It seems as though this is the same building.  pretty sure it was pfizers only New London office, so this is good.

adding 700 jobs back into the area is a great thing.

the thing is also that these are jobs that likely exist in another EB location like maine or virginia
