The American Public Transportation Association just released a report that says the average savings among 20 US cities for folks choosing to use public transit over driving and paying for unreserved parking is $9,242/year. I feel that they should have brought reserved/monthly parking rates into the equation, but nevertheless it is a shocking reminder that we should all be using public transit when possible.
Not only are there benefits to lowering your stress level, giving you more time to do things like reading or just relaxing, etc, but there are major financial benefits for doing so as well. How much are you saving by taking public transit instead of driving?
