[Urbanity]

Was just thinking that there are a number of big items this year..  This isn't  the wish list (which is another thread), but  items that I believe should be happening this year

• Park Condos/Hotel construction (completion?)
• Decision on 2012 DNC Convention (please, please, please let it be CLT)
• Wells Fargo name on CLT bank branches (final good bye to Wachovia)
• Wells Fargo museum storefront on Tryon
• Opening of Luski Galleries in the New Foundation for the Carolinas building (old Mint Craft Museum location)
• Final move ahead or nix on Knights stadium?
• Construction starts on streetcar line between CTC and Elizabeth Avenue
• Federal Funding decision on BLE?
• Opening of UNC Charlotte Uptown campus building.
• New retail (please let it not just be restaurants) in the Duke energy building plaza (next to Mint)
• Opening of Panera Bread and Carolina Ale House on College St.
• Grand Opening of the new Hotel Sierra
• Census figures for cities released with new 2010 CLT population numbers

What else is coming up?

# actual work on the Park
# actual action of the ball park on Mint.
# Acton on old Carolina theater
# Stein Mart or equivalent opens in the Well's Fargo atrium area.
# Transportation (foot or motorized) transportation between uptown and the NCMF is figured out and remedied.

There's a CATS meeting on Jan 6 that will discuss altering Route 26 - Oaklawn to go through Greenville and past the NCMF.

Well - Duke & Progress merger wasn't on my list.  Nor was a large accounting firm moving their HQ here.

Here's hoping 2011 keeps up this momentum!
