While driving away from Starbucks, I was immediately greeted by a sign that said "Ruth's Chris Opening Fall 2011". I'm very excited to try it when it opens! The location will be where that old motel across from BP was.

BV is really becoming a high end enclave.

I was wondering what would ever be done about the old Plaza Motel lot. Originally it was supposed to be a hotel, but then I guess the Bohemian came in and stole their thunder. Then, Hill Partners (who developed the Brook Street retail project) indicated that this might be a 3rd or 4th phase to their Biltmore Village-area developments. Then sometime last year I heard it was being planned as a 1-story restaurant.

Unfortunately I can't help but be disappointed with its chain-ness and lack of mixed use. I've been to Ruth's Chris a couple of times and it ain't all that.

Is this site part of the historic district and subject to city review?  I haven't seen anything on the development mapper.

EDIT:  I just found the map showing the local historic district boundaries.  It is indeed located within the boundaries.

Did a little more digging.  The Historic Resources Commission approved a certificate of appropriateness at their November meeting.  The developer is proposing a two-story building that would be in line with the aesthetic of other village buildings (tile roof, peddledash exterior, etc.).  Couldn't find a rendering, however.

Apparently, the Asheville Ruth's Chris will open with a new location at the Harrah's Cherokee Casino in fall of this year. AND
BRIO TUSCAN GRILL! And it's only just a little over an hour away! I've never ate there, but it looks like it's good. Has anyone tried it? Is it better than Maggiano's? (which I have yet to try, hopefully I will go at SouthPark this weekend maybe or in Buckhead next month)

Ruth's Chris steakhouse is good food, trouble being you have to have about $250 lying around for 3-4 people.

Looks like they are almost finished with this Ruth Chris' steakhouse.  Should be open by September, and taking reservations.

There are a few renderings of the finished building on the Ruth's Chris site.
Here is the link: http://www.ruths-chr...zzle/asheville/

I don't think it will actually look exactly like that, though, as the actual one is a two story structure.
