According to the Gville News, there will be 2,000 attendees at the 2012 Conference.  Greenville competed against Austin, San Francisco, Washington and Detroit for it.

Also, in 2011 ICAR will host tow other similiar conferences.  One will have 100 attendees and the other 150.

This ought to be GREAT exposure for Greenville! I can only imagine the possible economic benefits, not only from the conference attendees' expenditures, but also in terms of possible relocation or expansion possibilities...

This is definitely exciting news, coincidentally announced the same week an impact study regarding the automotive industry in South Carolina was released.

I assume one of the other conferences mentioned is InnoMobility (October 18-20), a branch of InnoVenture Southeast.

I didn't know about InnoMobility.  Looks like a great outgrowth of InnoVenture.  Is this the first year for InnoMobility?

Yes, I believe it is the inaugural year for InnoMobility.  At least part of the conference will be held at the Carolina First Center.

According to the information at the end of this press release from Clemson University, my earlier assumption was incorrect.  There are actually two other important automotive conferences planned for this year.

    * April 5 and 6, CU-ICAR will host the International Conference on Sustainable Automotive Technologies, an event that is expected to attract about 150 representatives from the auto industry, university and non-governmental representatives. The conference is hosted with the University of Applied Sciences in Ingolstadt, Germany, and the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology from Australia. It will mark the first time the conference has taken place in North America.

    * Sept. 26 and 27, CU-ICAR hosts the 2nd Annual Transatlantic Summit.
