Does anyone know what movie/show is currently being filmed near uptown?  The last couple nights I've seen a full-scale film crew in Chantilly off Pecan and the night after off Queens Rd West.  Both at night and, from the look of it, well funded.

Probably "Homeland" on Showtime

They've been filming "The Hunger Games" in Charlotte and other locations around the state. I think principal filming has concluded for it, though.

That would be Homeland, Hunger Games is done filming. Homeland will be filming until November. It's a Showtime series that they are filming in Charlotte. You can watch the full episode season premiere here.

What is the current status of Charlotte in the film industry?  Are we gaining a footing, or losing it?  I mean, we all know about "Shallow Hal", "Juwanna Mann" and "Eddie", all American classics.  Anything else coming this way that we know of?

There is actually a strong Film work force in Charlotte. The current tax incentive only helps. Mostly with the higher budget movies of coarse. There are plans for some more projects. You would be surprised, but there are usually a lot of smaller movies filmed here, with ever now and again a larger movie comes in. Hunger Games will be a BIG movie, they are planning on doing at least 2 more to my knowledge. Whether they come back to NC to film is yet to be determined.

We lost Iron Man 3 to Atlanta, I guess their deal looked better to the movie studio, but currently Charlotte filming is up the past few years. Although not as exciting, there is a lot of Nascar related national commercials filmed in Charlotte.

The Homeland series has been interesting. They used Blackhawk Hardware for one of the scenes back in early summer. Then a couple weeks ago, Woody Harrelson was at the Brueger's Bagels at Park Rd Shopping Center, taking a break from the recent filming. He was also seen at Boudreux's in NoDa that same week.

Correction on the above comment, looks like we lost Iron Man 3 to Wilmington, forgot what it was we lost to Atlanta.

One of the things I would love to see explored is some utilization of the North Davidson corridor between Center City and NoDa for more film related industries.  The area is ripe with industrial sites that can be re-purposed.  I'm not speaking Film lots and major studios, but a series of production facilities and smaller sound stages.

I just think it would be a nice link between the center city where the money is and the Arts District.

Anyone see the Homeland filming going on in Uptown this weekend?  I ran through and to my suprise, saw the D.C. flag flying above city hall and a presidential convoy rolling down 4th escorted by D.C. cop cars.  Plenty of extras out there roaming around too.  It was pretty wild.  I thought I was lost for a minute.

Cinemax has signed on to film a new action-drama series called "Banshee". It will be filmed in Charlotte and will be directed by Alan Ball who's the creator of HBO's hit series "True Blood". Filming should start in the spring. Good to see another series taking up residence in the QC. Seems like a good trend we have going on!

According to my fiancé, the next season of "the bachelorette" will be filmed in Charlotte.  Hopefully ABC embraces it and doesn't pretend they are filming in LA.

In Charlotte ETJ on Lake Wylie, that is.  The show uses a home in the Sanctuary.

Did anyone catch "Drinking Made Easy: Charlotte".  The host is Zane Lamprey if you're familiar with his previous show "Three sheets".

Anyways, I was really excited until I watched it, but it really put Charlotte in a bad light.  Not that they bashed the city or anything, they just went to a lot of awful spots (in my opinion) that made Charlotte look boring and culture-less.

Honestly the end of the episode was Charlotte's saving grace.  They ended at P-stone and the two lady bartenders there drank Lamprey and his buddy under the table.  They had a good time and make that area look good.

Charlotte is getting A LOT of attention so far this year. I honestly think that us getting the DNC has definitely improved Charlotte's status in the national spotlight. I found it odd that the Bachlorette was going to film here. then I found it odd that Madonna is touring here when she has NEVER been here before, now the Real Housewives will be filming here. What next? LOL!
