Troy Davis was executed for the 1989 murder of officer Mark MacPhail. How can someone be put to death with so little evidence?

A murder weapon was never found, eyewitnesses recanted their testimonies because of doubts, another man admitted to doing the crime. How could this happen? And then we look at Cayce Anthony where there is plenty of evidence she killed her child and she gets a free pass.
