Another college campus is slated to come to Texarkana.
The University of Arkansas Board of Trustees approved on Wednesday the purchase of land in Texarkana, Arkansas for a new satellite campus for the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope.
"This will enable us to reach out to students on the students' terms, and better meet them where their needs are," said UACCH Chancellor Chris Thomason.
Officials say the new Texarkana campus will start with about four classrooms and will offer general education classes.
Details of construction are still being hammered out, but officials hope to build the campus near the Four States Fairgrounds.
UACCH hopes to have the new campus opened for classes in fall of 2012.
In the mean time, the college plans to hold classes in portable buildings on the Arkansas High School campus in Texarkana.
