Well, after numerous delays and design changes, it looks as if this 101 storey, 492m tower would be completed in 2007. I think it was designed by the Japanese as this building represents a sword and the hole near the top is the sun. It's said that from a certain point, one of the Pearl TV towers spheres could be seen through the hole. Never before has a building been designed with a hole in the middle at over 400m above the street. This stands close to the 88 storey Jin Mao Tower, another tall building in the Pudong Area.

Note, there's also another tall tower close to the Center not yet built.

Building looks great . . . just something about the way the Chinese do business (slave labor) and put our factories out of business.  Just hoping that the creativity and prosperity of the Chinese towers stand for something more then the fantastic architecture they are built with ;)

Actually, this building could also look like a big screw driver with a hole near the end.

You know, that building would make a good key-chain accessory, lol.  I might just open up a tourist merchandise shop next door to it, and sell little replicas to slide onto your key-chains!

Now that is a building! Shanghai is really coming along with a more competitive downtown market that will rival its Asian cousins,Tapei and someday may even reach Tokyo.

What a great building. Nice addition to one of the craziest skylines in the world. I wish America would construct buildings like that!

Well, in the South of Market district of SF, there is a building boom. There have been a lot of tower cranes constructing highrises all around and it has turned the former slummy, lowrise industrial area into a elegant midrise (5 to 20 story) apartment district near the SBC Ballpark. On the western side of S of M, there are tall apartment building approved for construction, like the 60 story 301 Mission.

Yuck! Emporis always screw things up; they put the status of this building sometimes 'under construction' and sometimes 'on hold' and that confuses me; which one is it!?!?!? Or is it that the construction is stopping and going? But that means that the building cannot be completed in 2007 due to these delays!! EMPORIS SUCKS!!
