This is the world's second highest peak at 8611m, not too far behind Everest at 8850m. Some climbers consider K-2 a harder summit to climb than Everest, probably due to it's rocky and icy terrian, plus long distances on glaciers. The glaciers in that region are the longest non-polar glaciers in the world; the Baltoro Glacier is like 71km long and there are many others that are 30km+ long. :w00t:  Temperatures are a little colder, since K-2 is situated farther north than Everest. This is all I'm typing up for now, tired  -_- .

how did they come up with the name K2?

Yea, and what does the "K" stand for.
