Galdhøpiggen
Jotunheimen - Norway

This summer i walked/climbed up the tallest mountain in Norway and Scandinavia, Galdhøpiggen. The 2 469m tall mountain
is situated in Jotunheimen, southern Norway and is covered in snow and glaciers whole year around. But you can easerly
take a trip to the mountain by driving a car up to the tourist base at 1 800m and walk the 3 hours to the topp. For tourists
you alse need a glacier - guide.

I went up there in late July/early august togather with about 100 other tourists. Every day, when the weather is acceptable they
send up groups of tourists, one in a day usually. The trip start at the base at 1 800m, then you walk by a path trough billions
of stones and some snow, before you reach the glacier. The glacier is about 1 500m long across, and is relative flat, but with
several glacier cracks which you jump over. I was hoping to try to take a shot, but i did reach to. This groups of tourists has rope
between each other so you can't stopp and take any images. The white icy part took about 45min with walking. The last 1km was
about 400m in height, and 1km long, and took about 45min. Here you needed to climb in some parts, while walking on the snow
again. And then we finally reached the topp, with an AMAZING view...

The base was situated at 1 800m, by a water with a small, but fat glacier. To the left in the image there is also a summer ski resort situated on a glacier.

Billions of stones as far as you was able too see. Snow, ice and water has for thousands of years teared down the landscape.

The mountain about 3km from, the trip should take 30min with normal walking on the ground in a city, but this one took 2h and 30min.

This image is from the part you had to climb, after walking over the glacier. Here you see the glacier which we walked over.

This is from the topp of the mounatins, 2 469m above sea-level. From here i was also able to see Jostedalsbreen,
the largest glacier on mainland Europe. You was also able to see mountains 350km to the north.

Two of the images turned out to become a bit pink, but what a hell!

Down the dive to the west. The dive was about 300m high, with a glacier below.

Panorama from the topp, with all the mountains and the base 'hut' which worked as a small cafe when the tourists were on the topp.

Wow!  The views up there are amazing!  It must've been a fun trip too.  I'd love to do something like that someday.
