Yes they should monetize it, but using some other menu please.

i can attest that if they use items off the catering menu, they'd make a fortune.  the food from the caterers there is absolutely fantastic and one of the best meals i've had.

09

From what I've been told (this is before the final bill passed the Assembly), there was a deadline of July '09, of course I would assume the city would like to see that happen sooner rather than later.

On this morning's Sunday Channel 10 news show the Mayor was interviewed and said the project will begin in the fall. Unfortunately he did not specify a year.

There used to be a restaurant on the top floor of the biltmore--in the room where you have cocktails and stuff (not the ballroom) and I don't know what happened to it.

I agree that PVD needs at least a great bar at the top of one of these buildings. Back in the day PPS used to do this fundraiser in the spring called "Dinner with a View" and I had dinner at the top of Turks Head, and at the top of Citizens, and while Turks Head is just a board room, the top of Citizens is a function room. It was beautiful. I think that the building that used to be called Washington Mutual (the square building with Heminways on the first floor?) supposedly has an incredible view from its board/function room, plus it has an outdoor patio thing.

So yes, rooftop restaurant please. It doesn't even need to rotate!

I think five or six, but to be completely honest I wasn't paying the closest attention.

Why don't the developers of 110 Westminister and the Vista Della Torre get together and build one project downtown?  If you merged the proposed buildings together you would have a new tallest for Prov. and would solve the problem of the opposition on Federal Hill.  If you add an observation deck and rooftop restaurant then this would become a destination building.

i imagine they're very different people and the VDT people have connections with the connected people on the hill.

The fact that the Architect has a rendering on their website does not mean much about the project other than they did design work. There are so many dead projects living as marketing material floating around the net.

A hoary revival of a dormant project thread.

Exciting news, guys.  As reported this morning by Channel 10, the W website now lists a W hotel opening in Providence in 2010.  I didn't believe it 'til I saw it myself, but sure enough, it's there.

Man, that's great. I was starting to wonder if the exo-skeleton frame thingee on Weybosset was going to keep that sidewalk closed forever.

Yeah, at this point I wouldn't even care if they knocked that facade down, as long as the street opens back up.  The idea of saving it is kind of a joke anyhow.

The jersey barriers were actually moved back recently, I don't think the sidewalk is open on that side, but the street is wider.

Last I heard about this project is still last I heard. Announcement of some sort, likely smaller building, incorporating the facade on Weybosset, sometime in January. Of course that was before the global economy completely imploded.
