Don't forget the Community Media Center initiative. They are looking to bring a
wi-fi canopy to most of downtown's neighborhoods. Dirk Koning, and former boss of mine, was the driving force behind this initiative, but died of a routine heart procedure about a month ago (not the greatest press for the newly opened Meijer Heart Center). It looks like CMC is pushing ahead with their plans will be great for the community. People living near the Bridge Street location or the Wealthy Street Theatre should have great free bandwidth by summer.

Thanks for the plug snoogit.
joeDowntown - I'm definitely aware of the CMC initiative, and ran a news story on grwifi about it a couple of months back. I had emailed Dirk to ask if there was a way to work together in publicising the project, but didn't hear back before his tragic death. Glad to hear the project is still likely to go ahead.

the community media center is great - so is mediamouse.org, when it keeps up with the news. didn't the GRCMC just buy the wealthy theater? do any of you guys know what they're going to do with the auditorium space?

Yeah, the media center bought it. They are going to keep the auditorium and show a lot of independent movies. A definite plus for the area.
