I understand what you're saying but I am reluctant to add any more subforums at this time, we simply do not have the demand for it. Also, in doing away with the Hampton Roads subforum, we made a  conscious decision to stay away from regional subforums (or adding layers) and instead concentrate on the main cities (those with the most interest) and lump everything else in the Virginia main forum. There is very little activity in the main forum and I would have to see far more to justify any forum reorganization at this time.

That's understandable, but I have lately been thinking that it might be a good idea to include some of the Hampton Roads discussions into the Norfolk thread so that they might see more activity - like they did when they were their own forum. The Richmond forum includes the surrounding suburban counties so why not let Norfolk stand for Greater Norfolk?

Because the other cities would get overwhelmed by all the Norfolk topics. Having Portsmouth development, etc. pinned to the top of the Virginia main forum allows those cities to stand out more instead of dropping to the bottom of pages 2 and 3 in Norfolk. Besides, things have seemed fairly active to me the past few days.

Thats understandable, but if there was some way to also label the "Roanoke" forum as something like "Roanoke/Bristol", or "Roanoke/southwestern Virginia".

I think if it looked like that area was also meant to be included that more people MAY be apt to post there for SW Virginia.  As of now, it looks like they are "unwelcome", or "unimportant" so to speak.

There needs to be interest coming from people in that area to work. You could also bring it upon yourself to post news worthy items so those of us unfamiliar with SW Virginia could get interested.

Seems like there used to be a Northern Virginia section, what happened to it? Will there ever be one again? Does Washington metro have it's own forum?

It used to be but it was not getting much attention so I moved it over to guys forum. If you talk NoVa you might as well say DC. That part of the state is very much an enclave in its own right, having more in common with D.C. proper than with the rest of the state. The same can be said for the Maryland suburbs.

Actually it did use to be here. We moved it to the DC forum seeing Novas approximity to DC.

Exactly, that does make sense. Many people fail to grasp that Nova is Metropolitan Washington. It wouldn't exist as it does without the presence of Washington. Because of Washington's ever growing suburbs, Nova is actually the most developed part of Virginia; some of the DC "suburbs" have taken on the characteristics of cities themselves and the most populous county in the state is Fairfax county.

I thought we already had one. I know we put one on Norfolk, Va. Beach, and the old HR forum. Maybe just never got around to adding one when we dumped everything thing back in the Virginia forum. Definitely doable though. I'll see if we can get it added today or tommorrow.
