The Pawtucket Foundation announces a call for entries for a downtown name-the-neighborhood contest. A $500 stipend and recognition at the Annual Awards Celebration will be the reward for the winning entry. The competition, co-sponsored by The Times and Alliance Blackstone Valley Federal Credit Union, calls for submissions to identify a name for Pawtucket’s downtown neighborhood that markets the positive attributes that make the neighborhood an attractive place to live, work and visit. The competition is open to anyone with a great idea, including residents, artists, marketing experts, tourists, students and businesses.
There is now a security guard posted 24/7 on the Harris Ave. side and lots of trees have come down. Last week I saw what looked to be movers brining out old office furniture. Not sure if this is the right thread, but the GE Site now appears to be for sale, albeit with no listed price. There have been several posts suggesting that GE would never sell, so I wonder what has changed. In any case, rennovating the site would be a massive undertaking. From the Hayes & Sherry site:
