Details on the Thompson Gulch construction timeline:

First Week of March-Fence /Permanent Road Closure on part of Pine Street
March 2015 – Erect Tower Crane
April 2015 – Road closure for utility work
August 2015 – Erect Material Hoist
October 2015 – Structure Top Out
November 2015 – Remove Tower Crane
February 2016 – Complete Exterior Skin on Tower
July 2016 – Substantial Completion
Projected Fall 2016 Opening

Unclear if "permanent road closure on part of Pine Street" means permanent forever, or permanent through the end of the construction project.  I hope the latter.

I think just through the construction. This is going to play havoc with the downtown circuit bus for sure. Its whack-a-bus time again.

Thanks for posting!

We went there as a party of four for new years and even though they were running a limited menu they got three of the four orders wrong, or waitress seemed to be a bit of crack head, she even accidentally stuck her finger in one of our drinks when placing it on the table.  The food was only so so and service was unacceptable when you are spending over $500 for dinner.  We joked on the way there that we could just eat a CookOut because one in our party hadn't tried it, it turns out we'd have been better off doing that.   My friend who's idea it was to go there was so embarrassed he picked up the tab for the table.

Awesome building though, really cool old school vibe, it made me want to like the place but I doubt I'll ever go back.

Printers Alley hotel seeks height variance for 10 stories. This was in BZA agenda that I gave to WW.

This is better than hoped for here if approved. I know the plan and it should be cool.

I had heard the City of Nashville hired someone several years ago to make 3d building models on Google Earth for most of the downtown area. That is why it looks like more like 2010. There have been a few additions, since but a lot of buildings are still un-modeled.

The Sudekum Building and the National Life towers were the biggest crimes. Lots of "crimes" to be mentioned though... the Genesco Building... the public square... the First Baptist Church (to be replaced mockingly by a bland slab with its original steeple)... First American Bank.  Biggest crimes were those which fell for a parking lot. Tulane... too shame?

Noticed that the Tulane hotel was already gone by the time this pic was taken.  When did that fall?  !950s?

Now the Stockyard Building... and next the Centerstone HQ building, the two-story masonry building on Jefferson Street next door to Vista?  The article mentions that the buyer is attentive to reuse of old buildings; so it may not be demolished. Hopefully not!

I sincerely hope not.  The balance between the old and the new is what makes Germantown special.  It just doesn't make sense to me.  If you had a beautiful building like that on a lot you just purchased, why wouldn't you put it to use?

Does anyone participating in this forum have any ideas or concerns about where people of low income will live in Nashville now that their hometown has become an "It City" affordable only to people involved in the type of real estate projects listed here? Or is concern for the poor beyond the scope of this forum and the "It City?" I've noticed on this forum that people who raise concerns about displacement are branded "Old Nashville" by newcomers.

Most definitely there are areas that, at the least, once housed many middle-class tenants...but are quickly becoming areas for only people with substantial income.  I would imagine the only people who can live in those areas will be ones who can gain a subsidy of some type.

I personally don't know enough about these type of things to understand how you enable those with lower incomes to purchase or rent in areas like the Gulch or the CBD...but hopefully these areas won't be for elite earners only.
