Inner Loop - CBD, Downtown, East Bank, Germantown, Gulch, Rutledge

This is a random question, but does anyone know if there are any future plans to reconnect gleaves street to 12th?

No chance of this happening for a number of reasons.  Icon and Pine street are very close and even if there was enough room it would go right through the Icon's only green space.  There also a massive retaining wall right in the middle.

Everytime I go through the back way into the gulch (Gleaves to Pine street)  I think that the corner of Gleaves and Pine begs to be developed, either into a park or a building.

I believe there's a plan for that little slice.  Market Street owns that land, and I read in the NBJ that they have something in the works for it.

I hope it is green space. If they are going to add office space back there the streets need reconfigured. It's hard to get out onto Division around rush hour now and Pine isn't really meant for volume (and then add whatever bike traffic might come off the pedestrian bridge).

I snapped a pic of AT&T last night. I could definitely tell that the lights are LED. I'm not sure if anymore will be turned on at some point, but it won't matter once they ruin it with USBank signage.

Is the USBank sinage still going up? I agree it will ruin the look. As far as the remaining lights, I posted a copy of an email I received regarding the lights and it's in the Bits and Pieces section. Apparently they only replaced the ones that were working and are in the process of changing the lights that were not working. It even mentions the bridge at the top of the building. Hopefully those lights will be turned back on as well as the onese at the base of the sloped roof that used to shine up towards the bridge and logo.

My recollection is that the US Bank signage request for a variance from the Downtown Code was on the agenda for the 10/23 MPC hearing, but it was either deferred or withdrawn.  I was at that hearing for other matters but forgot to pay attention to the US Bank item.

I don't think they will be granted a variance for their current proposal (Option 1), but there are no restrictions for their alternative proposal (Option 2). "The planning department staff also opposes that option but current guidelines seemingly are not specific enough to prevent such a placement."

I definitely hope it gets a few more lights to even out the look... It appears pretty haphazard right now.

According to the email it's going to. We will have to wait and see. The view from the Adventures Science Center cam is too far away to really tell. You guys that are local will have to post pics of the progress :-)

NBJ reports that Southeast Venture is interested in purchasing the lot between Flyte World Dining and TSC  http://www.bizjournals.com/nashville/morning_call/2014/10/southeast-venture-plans-next-purchase-in-the-gulch.html.  Apparently, this is the last remaining parcel that they do not own in the 700 block of Division.

So - I was driving by vacant land at the railroad tracks and Heiman Street, near the 2500 block and noticed a sign for a zoning hearing to change zoning to RM40.

I can't find any information about the hearing online and thought some of ya'll might know something about it, or know where I could find out about it (besides calling in, which I plan to do Monday if no info)

Also - RM 40 seems to be zoning that goes a bit beyond normal apartments - the language says something about structured parking and walkable community. I highly doubt someone is getting that ambitious in North Nashville (remodeled houses are really starting to move, but that area is quite a ways away from the spillover areas from Germantown and Buena Vista) to do something imminently, but this has been the best place to come for info on this sort of thing.

Thanks!
