Great Pics, Lakelander! I agree...POST MORE PICS!!! If you come back in another year or so, you'll see how much the city has improved. The renaissance Detroit is making is truly amazing...and it is just the begining! There will be even better things to come in the future. There is supposed to be major announcements about the next Campus Martius building & the Slater Hotel soon.

I really need to get down there and takes LOTS of pics....in 5 years this place won't look anything like it does today!

Nice pictures.

It's amazing isn't it, how downtown Detroit--for all the negative reputation the city has--looks remarkably similar to just about any other American city.

Great stuff from Detroit. It really does have some very urban streets with nice highrises and architecture.

Detroit really doesn't deserve the reputation it has. It is always viewed negatively in the media. And it doesn't help much that Detroit doesn't have a very strong media presence for being such a large city. Movies like 8 Mile don't help much either. Yes, there are bad parts of the city, but most areas aren't that bad at all. The Super Bowl is one thing that could help change the city's image though. For that one weekend in 2006 all eyes will be on Detroit...and the city is working hard to make sure they present a postive image to the thousands of visitors who will be in the city that weekend.

Thats the same thing going on here in Jacksonville, a city that has been called the armpit of Florida to its gritty industrial plants that historically have lined the St. Johns River. There is currently a massive revitilization effort going on in the inner city and downtown to spruce up the town before it hosts the Super Bowl in 2005.

I agree with the other forumers... The photos are awesome, and DT Detroit looks pretty nice and active. I am glad to hear that the city is making progress in revitalizing itself. Please, post more pics if you have.
