This should get moved in the Pawtucket thread, and yes, as far as I know, it is still going (slowly) forward.

It looks like this project has died. Artinruins has a link to craigslist where it is for sale.

Thanks so much, Dump Meisters, for bringing your economic development to The Bucket.

And City Hall, quality work all around!

Sadly, this project appears to be dead since the owners have put the property up for sale. As frymasterspeck indicated, this seems to be due in part to a (hare-brained) proposal to place a transfer station nearby.

Well, thats not entirely true...the only place the property has been listed is with craigslist. If I needed to sell a 6 million dollar property, I think I might use a broker for assistance. (as an aside, I am pretty sure I am the one who notified the city it was even "for sale).

I'm hoping the owners are sincere and this was a craigslist hoax.

I'm sure if they could turn a nearly $5 MM profit in a year based on a ~$1.3 MM investment they would go ahead and turn it around.

Hell if all it takes is saying you've got permits in place to post a 400% gain, then I have to get into real estate more.

So you're implying that the property isn't really for sale yet you notified the city that it was for sale. Do you mean that you told the city of the rumor or hoax that it was for sale? I'm a little confused. :)

I saw the craigslist ad and told Herb Weiss, who I talk to alot these days (as J. is my business partner, I sent him the link at the same time and he put it up on Art in Ruins). Knowing the city's aversion to technology, I doubted they would have seen the craigslist ad on their own...

Anyone that knows craigslist knows that just about anyone can put anything they want up there with zero verification...SO, based on the article in the Times that also says permits are NOT in place, I highly doubt the place is for sale...

still, the transfer station crap cannot be helping things, and who knows, maybe the owners really are looking to sell...

Union Wadding now off the market. Read this article from the Fishwrap that documents a failure to communicate. Or something.

Quote

Spencer said he had not been told about the possible transfer station next door. But Cassidy, who did not attend the meeting and said he did not know Spencer would be there, in a phone interview later said Spencer and others at FND were informed from the start of that possibility, including at the first get-acquainted meeting in the spring of 2005.

"I told them the day they showed up in our office and they told us they were interested in the property. We told every single developer who came in and talked.

I tried to find an email address for them but couldn't. I wanted to suggest that they use SPACES or INDENTS between paragraphs...

Quite frankly, the Pawtucket Times is the best paper around to get current news on issues. Doug Hadden is a very good writer and reporter and I rarely find inaccuracies to his stories when he covers issues I closely know about in the Times. I don't consider the paper fish wrap. If someone takes the time to read it they will be updated to all the issues in Pawtucket, stakeholders, and people who work hard both in the private and public sector trying to make the community a better place to live and work.

I was in the meeting with Mike Cassidy at their first meeting and Spenser and his group were informed of the Transfer Station possibility. We told them that the City would do what ever it could to oppose that use. herb weiss, economic and cultural affairs officer, city of pawtucket.

Herbs, Is there any word about a new use for the Paramount Greeting card building? Amazing structure that I hope will be put to good use.

Thanks.

As to Paramount Greeting card building, I heard that the wquipment will be sold off by the court shortly. Then they will move on to solicit proposals from people to purchase the building.
