Whew!!!!!!, well I am back! It's 127 stories and 2030 feet with a large hole in the middle for planes to fly through, gas up, and be on their way. This satisfies the FAA requirements. There is also a dock station at the top for the Space Shuttle if they revive that program, and a helium gas station for large airships, or blimps. I hear one will be the Hindenburg II.

But the real question is what's happened with Lake Palmer in the future?

After looking at the color rendering and seeing how it stands among the other towers of downtown, I actually change my mind and like it better than okay. The curves help a lot!  It should be an impressive addition to the skyline... and hopefully sets a precedent for at least a couple other very tall towers in the near future.

William loved it!

Seriously, I just got back from Atlanta where they are building structures of this size on a regular basis. It seems the condo and apartment towers in Buckhead, Lennox, and Midtown that are in the 20-35 story range all look the same. Mainly cookie cutter Novare/Smallwood Reynolds and Reynolds designs.

The 50+ story buildings actually employ elegant designs. In Buckhead a 65 story condo/apartment tower has just opened and has a design somewhat out of Dubia or Asia and it really makes an architectural statement.

That is what the Sobro with it's non-traditional residential condo tower look is so impressive. The Skyhouse, The Element, and others on the board are just cookie cutter boxes. 1212 is a nice piece, but still a box.

Thanks to Tony with the Sobro and the Paramount, maybe Nashville will get out of the box literally.

Is this view looking up 5th towards Church St.?

Yep, it's looking N-NW (wide-angle view) from the (chopped-to-a-dead-end) sidewalk located on the west side of 5th with the Central Church of Christ beyond camera view (to the immediate left), with McKendree UMC in the upper left third of the photo

Notice the Hermitage Hotel at the dead center at the top of the view, an unusual vantage point from mid-block on 5th, south of Church St.  The center of the photo is a straight-line, shotgun view diagonally across Church, through the south entrance of the St. Cloud alley. and toward 6th Ave. "way over" almost to Union St. (the view of the northeastern corner of the Hermitage blocked by the left-most part of the St.Cloud Bldg.)  Mentioned two months ago by fieldmarshaldj, it's not without surprise that two such large and contiguous partially leveled blocks, would have remained empty for as long as they have been, in what once had been the very heart of the busiest part of downtown.

That same alley continues south alongside McKendree, just beyond that blue barrier fence.

That's a pretty site since apparently Tony has something up his sleeve that only a select few know about. I actually have a good feeling this time around.

You mean like getting the city to excavate his site for him, build his foundations, and provide him parking. Oh... and pay him for the privilege of doing so?

Seriously, with that kind of deal if this tower doesn't go then something is wrong.
