Wow! It's a sea of highrises! Does the Brazilian government have a national height limit? I've noticed that although they are filled with highrises, the cities don't seem to have any really tall skyscrapers.

You are right. The government in Brasília wants a development plan for all the cities of Brazil. If they "burn" money or allow superfluous projects, thea don't get money of the central government. And as supertall buildings are mostly not very rentable, they are not qpproved by the municipalities... There have always been enormous supertowers that were being planned. But they have never been approved. Sao Paulo Maharishi Tower of peace was approved by one mayor and then cancelled by the following after the elections. But the trend is to get higher. A 300+m tower is being planned in Sao Paulo, another 62 storey building was approved and small Barueri gets a 47 storey tower. Other buildings are planned also. As the law now allows to build over limit if the investor pays some extra money that is invested in social programmes...

No, Belo Horizonte is in the highlands. There are some strange looking valleys around the city! :thumbsup:
