Does anyone know what Bank of America's plans are regarding the new tower they are building in NYC? See the link attached below. Will they maintain a strong presence in Charlotte or are they planning to eventually move to NYC?

Right now, they have offices scattered all over Manhattan. They are just bringing them altogether by putting them in one building. Charlotte will still be the headquarters.

Charlotte will remain BofA's headquarters as long as Hugh McColl is around. Besides, they wouldn't be announcing a new Uptown tower if they were ready to leave town.

Not likely. BofA has its roots in North Carolina (NCNB etc). It has far too much money invested there to just up and leave.

Is the new Charlotte BofA tower a definite go? If so, when will they be breaking ground?

New BOA tower is part of the Mint Museum relocation on the block in front of TransAmerica Square. It would contain a new Mint, the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, and a 35 to 40 story tower mixed with residential and office. Details and renderings are supposed to be released late this month. Of course, with the new NASCAR Hall of Fame getting everyone hot and bothered now, the Mint project could get derailed for lack of public money.
