There has also been individual atheletes boycoting due to air quality and health risks. for example the favored marathon runner is either not running or only running the 10k because he is worried about the smog damaging his lungs.

My cousin is competing at these olympics and she has been over there a few times to inspect the venues as an ambassator of some sort and she is not worried about these things, but she is not a runner tongue.gif

it should be very interesting indeed. I have an ex girlfriend looking to qualify for the olympic marathon the day before the Boston Marathon. The Ritz-Carlton in central Victoria will close at the end of the year and will be replaced by another enormous office building. While I did not stay here, I did go inside for a look. Though it was attractive, it did not compare favorably to the Peninsula in Kowloon or even the Mandarin Oriental nearby. Two new Ritz properties are being developed in Kowloon and Macau respectively.

I'm guessing the photos on the bay were taken in Manila (isn't Kuala Lumpur landlocked?). The Buddhist temple is interesting; the Philippines is 83% Catholic (then Muslim, then Buddhist).

Are you sure that last photo on your first post is in Asia? The vegetation and buildings look very European. It's awesome that this thread is the most view thread in the Asian section by a considerable margin (as of this post over 10K views!)

It goes to show that there is obviously considerable interest in this city. Being such, and that it has been forever since I updated this thread... I'll be sure to add the new buildings here, and keep the thread continuously updated with developments.


Unfortunately, I can't edit the main post with updates, so I'll post additions below in the next three posts. My humble apologies to those with slow connections. I've also made the renderings clickable thumbnails, so it won't eat up quite so much bandwidth.
