Ritz-Carlton Closing- Will Be Replaced With Office Building

The Ritz-Carlton in central Victoria will close at the end of the year and will be replaced by another enormous office building. While I did not stay here, I did go inside for a look. Though it was attractive, it did not compare favorably to the Peninsula in Kowloon or even the Mandarin Oriental nearby. Two new Ritz properties are being developed in Kowloon and Macau respectively.

Hotel Industry News

Wow, great collection of vintage photos. The one with the guy and the alligator (crocodile?) is crazy. I always find it interesting to see how American pop-culture has seaped into other culture, as evident with the Godfather poster early on. Thanks for posting those.

Interesting. I'm half Filipino (and half German).

I'm guessing the photos on the bay were taken in Manila (isn't Kuala Lumpur landlocked?). The Buddhist temple is interesting; the Philippines is 83% Catholic (then Muslim, then Buddhist).

Are you sure that last photo on your first post is in Asia? The vegetation and buildings look very European. If it is in Asia, then it's most likely in the Philiippines, because the Philippines was a Spanish and American colony.

Hi guys!

It's awesome that this thread is the most view thread in the Asian section by a considerable margin (as of this post over 10K views!)

It goes to show that there is obviously considerable interest in this city. Being such, and that it has been forever since I updated this thread... I'll be sure to add the new buildings here, and keep the thread continuously updated with developments.

Unfortunately, I can't edit the main post with updates, so I'll post additions below in the next three posts. My humble apologies to those with slow connections. I've also made the renderings clickable thumbnails, so it won't eat up quite so much bandwidth.

Cheers!
Jai

---------==--=--- New buildings April 2006 --> Now (mid Jan 2007) ---=--==---------

Post 1 of 3

India International Trade Tower (IITT), Dadar: originally reported to be 72 stories.
