Yeah, I read about the First Friday Art Walk- sounds like a great event. I will have to make time for that next time I'm in town.

Here's a few downtown photos from a trip to Springfield. The first is the Hammons Tower at 22 stories and on a high spot. It really dominates the skyline and is set away from the historic downtown area as are most of the newer buildings downtown. This is what you see when you walk out the main entrance of Hammons Field.

These are two historic structures on Walnut Street immediately off of the new downtown area- very beautiful buildings.

These are some more of the newer tall buidldings downtown - right to left the Hammons Building (not to be confused with the Hammons Tower and all the other things named Hammons in Springfield- ) Park Place condos and Sunvilla Tower on the Missouri State University campus.

Street mural in the older part of downtown- a funky place with lots of history and potential. There have been some notable improvements in that area but there's a lot more that could be done.

You beat me to it. I'm gonna go ahead and make this its own topic since a large enough development. I noticed the article about this in the Springfield Business Journal. I don't think the Houlihan's will be 70,000 sqf. thats the size of the entire lot it sits on. That would be bigger than the Circuit City store.

I found this pdf file that has the layout of the site, but I don't know how to copy the photo and paste it on here from adobe.

Thanks for posting this. Yet another project from Johnny. I have a feeling he announced this to calm the tempers about the Wonders of Wildlife expansion delay, and seems like it's working. I don't know if I would consider this a "landmark hotel" but just a really nice hotel. They said it would be 4 stars so we'll see. I always thought that they should build a hotel off Sunshine where those ugly old buildings are just west of Bass Pro. They could put in more rooms and maybe an indoor water park! Now that would be awesome. Maybe I'll write em'. LOL

BTW... They are saying the expansion of WOW will put the museum on par with those in Chicago, New York, Phili... Pretty cool.

View information on projects and add your own in our new Project Database: [Link]

I heard alot of folks opposed of this idea due to require build republic road across mobiles area then to across 65 Hwy. Also they doesn't want to increase traffics too. They're just all d*mn old folks.

I wouldn't say that... These people in the mobile home park will be paid off. Their land is worth a lot of money and I'm sure it will come up in the meetings. Even if the road can't go through this mobile home park then the other option is the hilly terrian next to it, but they don't want to do that if they don't have to.

This development is basically a done deal with the city. Why do think they have run all these articles in the news-leader saying "Development Enevitable at 60/65" "Tax Dollars for Springfield." Trust me it will get built.

View information on projects and add your own in our new Project Database: [Link]
