I am really excited for my Atlanta trip in a few weeks! Going to do some major shopping!

Yeah we were supposed to get ALL saints according to that blogger and it hasnt open yet. Barneys was on Deathwatch a long time ago and it was supposed to close according to that blogger but its still open. I dont like that fact that legoland is in phipps but hey there is nothing we can do about that now.

Has anyone has been to the Bloomingdale's clearance sale? Do they have good skincare deals or what are they doing with that? Are they discounted at all?
I'll hopefully get to go at the end of February. The brands I use are The Art of Shaving, Clinique, Kiehl's, and Philosophy. Thanks if anyone finds out for me!

Even in this challenged economy, I am glad to hear that progress is moving forward on the redevelopment of Fort McPherson. This is a prime piece of real estate three Marta train stops (if I recall correctly) south of downtown. It is also right across the street from the Lakewood/Ft. McPherson station. Two groups of developers submitted plans and qualifications for the redevelopment of the property which includes 40 historic structures. One group consist of

Cousins Properties, The Integral Group and Forest City Enterprises and the other group teams

Atlanta developers Carter and H. J. Russell & Co. Because of it's location and public transportation access (it is a stone's throw south the Atlanta Beltline Project), this property, if handled properly could become quite the live/work/play community.

Honestly, I hope that they won't renovate it either. The store looks great from the inside (the exterior's pretty old, though). I was hoping they would just do an exterior renovation, not an interior one. If they do both and think the store is too large, they could always lease some space back to the mall for other retailers and make the mall corridor a little longer.

I have a hunch you're right, VM likes their stores to look uniform (like Dillard's) but at least they do look classier. If they do remodel though I will miss the look of that Davisons/Bloomingdales.

We all knew Von Maur was looking to open a couple more locations in the Atlanta area, and I'm sure GGP knew that as well - so the minute they learned Bloomingdale's was closing, they asked Von Maur if they were interested in replacing it.

This location is much larger than the store at North Point, though, so I wonder if they're going to fill the whole thing or subdivide it. Also, I wonder if they're going to give it a complete renovation like they did at North Point. I have a hunch they will.

True. I see that Perimeter has sales per square foot of $550--pretty high. Bloomingdale's must just have been the wrong store in the wrong place- the mall seems to be a strong performer.

On the contrary, I am certain that Von Maur and GGP had already worked things out before any of us ever heard Bloomingdale's was going to close, therefore meaning that this space wouldn't really qualify as 'vacant.'

Word is that it sounds like Perimeter had now nabbed Von Maur almost overnight to make a second Atlanta store. Sounds pretty impulsive to me as Von Maur is still new to Atlanta.
