Thanks for the lovely photographs! I live in the Sunset, and this residential area, Golden Gate Heights, with the aptly named Grand View Park on top of the hill, to me, is the jewel of the Sunset. I'm glad to see it represented here at Urban Planet. The view from Grand View Park is truly jaw dropping. You see the whole length of the City, and the panorama of the Pacific Ocean is so wide, that it is curved, following the curve of the earth (or am I imagining it?).

I love the amazing composition of the last and one before last photos. Unbelieveably beautifu. And of course, how could I not like the lovely first photo with our elegant new government buidling, as a backdrop behind the Tenderloin row of tawdry cinemas and questionable hotels (where you check in, but may never check out!)

Hi Zahc, the first photo is absolutely breathtaking. Muted warm colors as the beige of the building in the front, the brown of the tree and the roof structure or the building in the background set a wonderful foil to the cooler colors, the blue of the sky, the windows in the background building and the lovely bright copper patina green of the steeple of the building in the front. The fact that one building is green with a brown roof, and the other building is brown/beige with a green roof creates a sublime connection and makes the two buildings appear as a whole. Masterful, one of your very best!




I also enjoy the group of gnarled tree-people in the last photo.

Beautiful, poetic sequence of photos. I like to see photos as these in Urban Planet, besides the common photos of highrises and distinctive downtown buildings. What you show is what goes on in a person's home, even dinner table and backyard, including the opossum that lives under the house, or in the shrubs. They're ALL part of the urban planet landscape.

I the first photo, I really like the contrast between the jumbled mess of steel containers and heavy machinery in the foreground and the very clean lines of the building.
