Interesting to see these ideas being banded about, especially with the office park/lifestyle center proposals. If and when the RTA's Western Corridor (be it train or BRT) opens up, I wonder if that will help spur development if they place a stop within a reasonable walking distance of the former mall area.

I do miss Bellevue Center though. I remember it opening up when I was a kid. Used to be such a nice place, with lots of great stores that couldn't be found anywhere else in the area. It's unfortunate that it never worked out. Bellevue could have been a great resource for those of us that live between Nashville and theJackson along the I-40 corridor that wanted something more convenient than downtown, and with better options than Jackson, and without the likelihood of getting shot in Memphis.

View information on projects and add your own in our new Project Database: [Link]

Updating/Creating Nashville Wikipedia articles

http://www.urbanplanet.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=53185&view=findpost&p=1160473

http://www.urbanplanet.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=53185&view=findpost&p=1160473

So I've been working on developing the Wikipedia pages for Nashville buildings and landmarks for some time, with the end goal of getting detailed articles for every building listed on this page: http://en.wikipedia....gs_in_Nashville

You'll note that a lot of the buildings do have pages, but most of them are just stub articles that don't have a lot of information about the building itself, and almost all are lacking images. Since I'm not actually in Nashville at the moment, that makes it kind of hard to go around taking good photos of the existing buildings, so I really need help in that area.

Anyway, just wanted to get the discussion started. If you're already registered as a Wikipedia editor, perhaps we can get enough interest to start a sub-project of Wikiproject Tennessee http://en.wikipedia.....26_task_forces

Also, if you want to hit me up on my Talk page, that's right here: http://en.wikipedia....er_talk:Nfutvol

View information on projects and add your own in our new Project Database: [Link]

I hope they make the decision soon. They have been discussing this for a decade now and just like West End Summit, and the Federal Courthouse nothing is getting done. Nashville seems to take too long to make a decision because to many people with opposing views seem to slow things down and get their way. The whole fiasco with Lionstone and Joy Ford is evident of that. She will go to her grave thinking she "got to stick it to the man..."

We elect our public officials with the faith they will make a good decision, yet we second guess every move they make for fear taxes will go up or it will be something we will regret. Great to have you on board Volanova. Philadelphia is a really cool place. Only been there once. I take it that you may have gone to school at UT from your name. Welcome to the site.

I'm from the Nashville area, lived there all my life before college at UT and then grad school at Villanova. Haven't left Philadelphia yet, even though I finished grad school a couple years ago. Lots of ties to Middle TN though, still, as all my family still lives around there, and I'm back in town every couple of months.

Gotta say though, I'm disappointed to see that the Philly section of the boards are dead. So much going on up here development and building wise, this city is changing for the better every week. Some sections are entirely different and nearly unrecognizable from what they were when I first came up 5 years ago.

Looking forward to keeping up with what's going on in Nashville!

View information on projects and add your own in our new Project Database: [Link]

I can shed a little more light on this one as I gave the info to WW. As far as I can see, the buildings will come almost all the way to the side walk. There will be a two deck parking garage in the back. There will only be about 8 feet between the buildings, a three story and a 5 story. I think the 3 story will sit on top of the parking garage. The 5 story will sit closer to 31st. There are three more homes that will be coming down on Long for this project. Tentative start date is 3/1 and I think that depends on the financing time table

On a side note from what I understand is there are going to be town homes across the street as well but no this developer and probably not for a year or so.

View information on projects and add your own in our new Project Database: [Link]

Interesting. I think a lot of the efforts going to the current Hillsboro Village "downtown" area could be spent elsewhere along Hillsboro Rd. Especailly improving pedestrian and cyclist amenities further south to encourage pedestrian and bicycle traffic in an area that, frankly, seems to be perfect for it. Lots of younger professionals and students, especially in the apartments in the area.

I for one always thought that this would be a great stretch of road for a streetcar line or better bicycle lanes, something to encourage more walking in a pretty congested area.

View information on projects and add your own in our new Project Database: [Link]

One great thing about a baseball park near Shelby Street is that it can share parking with LP Field. Sort of like what they have done in Philadelphia with the sports complex. All the major stadiums (with the exception of the Union's PPL Park soccer stadium in the suburb of Chester), served by a single large mass transit stop, with plenty of parking all around. Plus, it turns it into something of a destination. With the stadiums in one place, things can start growing up around it, instead of spreading them out over two separate areas. Businesses can benefit from people attending events at both, and not have to decide which one to locate near.

Not to mention, the Sounds *really* need something other than Greer...

View information on projects and add your own in our new Project Database: [Link]

Interesting to see the numbers recently released by the RTA regarding the upswing in usage on the Music City Star. Hopefully people are actually starting to use the service enough to make it feasible and enough to have an impact on traffic on I-40. I noticed over the last couple of months someone was putting up unsourced information regarding a North-South Corridor line, and while I could find no mention of actual plans anywhere, it did get me to thinking that maybe something was in the works. Anyone seen any news on this?

Unfortunately, I'm afraid that unless they get more equipment and a dual-track system set up, this won't really take off. It's almost purely a commuter line right now, with the exception of special even trains and the 10:30 train on Saturday. Without regular later service, or at least past 10:30 service on Weekends, it's not going to do a lot to get people downtown. And with the limited population it serves right now, it won't do much. When they get a train to Murfreesboro, and hopefully in the future to Clarksville, Dickson and Franklin, I really do hope this will change, and it will become more useful to people who don't work downtown.

Anyway, first post, woo!

View information on projects and add your own in our new Project Database: [Link]

I like the street wall that currently presents itself on this portion of Hillsboro Village but I like the proposed project. But for the age and the contribution to the fabric of HV I don't necessarily see the significance of these particular buildings. The building on the northern end has interesting bay windows projecting on the second floor - otherwise they're all typical commercial buildings.

If the buildings were being ripped out for surface parking or for a single user suburban style development I'd be up in arms. The buildings are being lifted for something that will utilize the space more efficiently, add density, diversity and depth to Hillboro Village. I'm all for that. The new building(s) will be larger but won't overwhelm the existing scale. The spots being gentrified. OK. I don't necessarily see that as absolutely bad. Vanderbilt/Midtown needs more housing. The 40+ new residential units that will come with the development represent as many (or more) people that won't necessarily be contributing to the awful traffic congestion in the area and will contribute to vitality of HV.

My biggest concerns with the new buildings are vertical facade composition and tenant mix. I hope the new building(s) provides an active and engaging facade similar to that existing - many bays, entrances, differentiations. It's a new building and I'm guessing the rent's going to be adjusted accordingly which means some of the interesting existing tenants that may indeed be HV institutions may not be a part of the new mix. I hope the new building doesn't result in a boring formulaic mix of commercial entities.

I too wish that urban development was happening around HV to the east and to the west along Blakemore but we can't force people/companies to do it. I think it would very cool if HV kept its funkly deteriorating old building charm while the area surrounding was urbanized but alas...

I was waiting to see what you thought of this one considering you live in the Village. I have a lot of mixed emotions as I have stated but this will generate some lively discussion at the Forum meet and I hope you can make it Duane.

View information on projects and add your own in our new Project Database: [Link]

This is great to see. I am still hoping that Metro's appeal of Tower's property will win and the MCC will be even further under budget.

Producer2- any inside info on future bookings? I know we are currently just under 600k room nights, but totaling over 1MM would be fantastic.

View information on projects and add your own in our new Project Database: [Link]
