DL will not be adding flights to SEA, AS will. SFO on UA seems likely.

I actually don't think AS will add SEA because of their close ties now with AA, they don't need to add SEA. I would think DL will like to try to compete against AA/AS...

CLT finished 2014 as 7th busiest airport in the world based on takeoffs and landings, a spot it has held for several years.  The 2% decrease in takeoffs and landings is largely due to AA's upgauging of flights (i.e. fewer daily flights on larger planes).

Confirmation it's a AN-124 since it does not have a T-tail. 

I remember when the AN-225 visited in 2010.  That was a 6-engine monster CLT may never see again!

^One thing that can never be changed is geography.  MIA and DFW are too far south  to serve as interconnection points for Northeast/Midwest travelers.  

As mentioned before in this forum, AA needs CLT just like United needs IAD and Delta needs ATL to connect passengers.

American is doing more than just making statements of commitment, they are backing it up with action in Charlotte. As the article stated they have added 400 people to the Charlotte workforce, and American has explicitly asked the airport to build them more gates so they can add more flights. I don't ever remember United asking Cleveland or Delta asking Memphis or Cincinatti to expand their terminals after their respective mergers.

Yes there have been and will be more changes at the Charlotte airport as it plays a different role in the American system than it did in the US Airways system. However, I think on the whole and in the long run the hub is here to stay. If American were planning to make substantial cuts at Charlotte it would not make any sense for them to request millions of dollars for expansion that they will be on the hook for.

Sounds like the NC budget will pass and that includes the fuel tax exemption. Big win for CLT and American..

I hate being synical because normally I am an optimist, but USAIRWAYS did something similar as "propaganda" before the merger by adding Barcelona, Lisbon, Manchester, and Brussels. Only Barcelona remains and there is talk that way may even lose Rome. Hopefully I'm just being paranoid because I want American to expand even more in Charlotte!

I'll take Tokyo, ANA or JAL would be nice, or a 350 for AA.   It would be a huge step in the right direction.
