Davidson Southeast: Antioch, Century Farms, East of Brentwood

Batson Motors, the used car dealership at 2411 Franklin Rd that occupies the southeast corner of the former Colonial Bakery site, appears to be moving out (2/3 of their cars have disappeared off the lot in the last few days, and a Ryder truck seems to be loading with office equipment, etc. from the office).  If this is happening due to an impending sale, it could be a really nice added piece to the puzzle for that whole mixed-use endeavor. It is the northeast corner of the Franklin/Inverness intersection, directly across from Cashville, and next to Sonic Drive-In.

I really shouldn't be saying this, but this could be yet another milestone in moving out some of that tacky stuff facing Franklin Pk (particularly south of Bradford Ave.).  Some hodgepodges can be at least somewhat "interesting", but there you find quite a mix of mid- and late 20thC clashing at best, still left over from the old city-limit bound days and following, some of which has managed to become reincarnated and re-purposed, in an amusing way IMO.  I'm not referring to Sinema and company, of course.

Here is a story from the Post with some news about the lot at 4th and Chestnut. Behind paywall now but will come off sometime today.

The take away is they are trying to rezone to allow for up to 10 floors. Right now project is being called Outpost Nashville.

More info on this quite large mixed-use project (over 5 acres) at 4th and Chestnut:

Los Angeles-based Sprinkles Cupcakes is coming to 12South and bringing their famous cupcake ATM along.

Cool! I was wondering if we would ever get a bakery to replace Becker's.  And this will be in the exact same building!  (two blocks from my house---there goes my slim figure).

More development along the Murfreesboro Rd corridor...hopefully we get more projects like this along Murfreesboro, as it's so close to downtown and should be helped by the new Police Headquarters/Criminal Justice Center

Sylvan Park Diner on 8th Avenue finally closing.  I had many a greasy breakfast there over the past dozen years. Wonder what the new development will be?  It is surrounded by new brand new apartment/condos.  Could either be a smaller complex tucked in between, or perhaps a new restaurant.  With  more than 1,800 new units and hundreds of new houses within 4 blocks that are finished or UC, there really is a shortage of quality eateries along that stretch of 8th Avenue South.
