Quick question....So the parking lot across from this site is where we saw the proposal with the sky-bridge to MCC?...and where is the Holiday Inn lot?

So there is the potential for 3 hotel projects right next to each other on the same street.

Seems like this proposal with the Northpoint folks is ready to roll.

They've been working on this project for years. So glad to see it's coming to fruition.

Along the same lines of "... that goofy 1964 Chrysler Turbine concept car" as MLBrumby called out in the Danny Forster Design Studio rendering, link posted by ganman last week in the CBD/SoBro thread (April 17) on an unknown hotel.

I think they could have done just as well with a Pontiac Aztec.

This is what the Omni should have looked like...

Definitely.  They took the easy, cheap way out on the design thinking they could get away with it.  Now, the so-called "flagship hotel" for the convention center is being outdone by a Residence Inn.  lol

It looks pretty good, but the trend of putting a "ramp" on the tops of buildings might need to end soon. It's a weird trend. Others that come to mind are Icon and Indigo on West End. I'm not sure about the curved glass part, but it's thoughtful to the curves of the MCC and is probably a more 'expensive' part of the design.

This proposal is across Fifth Avenue from the DFDS proposal. The Hilton Garden Inn is at the southwestern corner of KVB and Fourth Avenue; one or two half-blocks separate it from this proposal.

The DFDS proposal was AC branded so it would appear this proposal has superceded it.

So is the Canopy Hotel still on? It would seem so, as it was announced that Northpoint had the Nashville franchise just a few months ago, while they were apparently working on this option. It would seem the Canopy must be planned for another nearby location.

Not real sure Pete. NorthPoint I believe still has the liscense or option for the one here in Nashville, but that may have changed. We will have to wait and see.
