I'll admit... I was surprised to learn Birmingham has such a large metro. It handles itself very nicely under those conditions in my opinion.

Those skyline pictures are very nice. Birmingham is a very impressive city.

Nice pictures everyone. I'd like to see more :)

Check out the Magic City group on Flickr. We've got about 1200 photos of Birmingham, some of which have been contributed by other Urbanplanet and SkyscraperPage forum members.

I agree, for a city with around 230,000 people, its skyline is top notch.

Maybe 8th or so after the popular ones. Miami, Jax, Tampa, ATL, Charlotte, Nashville ( if you consider that SE) Bham's up there.

That's the IMAX dome theater at the McWane Center (Science Museum). That photo was posted here from the Leer Corporation's website about their proposal for the Cabana Building. Not sure where they stole it from, but it's obvious they got all their promotional photos off the internet. For a while they were showing off images of Birmingham, England to entice prospective condo-buyers.

Based on my observations, I'd rank Birmingham slightly ahead of Nashville and Jacksonville, only because of solid density and the mountain view.

DOH! Good lord I should have known that, I've only been there 15 times. I think I need my prescriptions bumped up.

Let's get this back to posting pics. I would post my own but I don't currently own a digital camera.
