The hotel tower is looking good. They've installeda portion of the signage at the top of the building. I'm looking forward to some retail announcements!

I just can't agree. I've said all along this is a great project but simply awful architecture. The dark grey makes this building look like a cinder block sticking up. All box, no character. :( One Project had the potential to redefine our skyline in both height and iconic architecture, and failed to do either- IMO.

Well, to each their own opinion. I do not like the Richardson Street side of this block, but the Lauren's Street side has a great texture and material use to bring things down to a pedestrian scale. As for the height, I think these three towers establish a nice base. I like that the gray of this building sets it off from its surroundings. Diversity in exterior cladding helps make things rich in the over scheme of a cityscape, IMO. Either way, it's going to be nice to have our sidewalks back open and the added population in the heart of the City Center.

The structure over the Laurens Street pedestrian way is in the process of being installed. It will definitely be a unique element. Looking forward to this thing finishing up. The pedestrian experience should be top notch!

Agreed. Laurens Street is going to be an amazing part of downtown. I really like the idea of having a pedestrian only street and I wonder if any other areas could be converted into pedestrian only. Brown Street comes to mind.

Wes Townson, vice president of acquisitions for The McKibbon Hotel Group, also participated in the Power Event and spoke on the Aloft Hotel on North Laurens Street.

“We are in Phase III in collaboration with Hughes Development and the city. We’re finishing out the development around One City Plaza in the heart of downtown,” Townson said, who added that tenant announcements are expected in the next 30 days for some of the retail space at Aloft.
