I'm interested in WHEN you all think this road will go thru the Mena area? We're considering a move there, but are concerned with the negative effects of such a road.

According to AHTD's 2006 Highway Plan, the entire length of future I-49 from Fort Smith to Ashdown is listed as an unfunded corridor, i.e., there is no planned or anticipated funding for it to be built within the next 20 years (2027). I am not aware of any portions which could be broken out, such as around Mena. In other words, I wouldn't even worry about it.

However, just to be sure where it is planned, it is always wise to call them and find out. Their number is on their website, and someone will help you out.

the section of I-49 that will run through the east side of fort smith through the Chaffee Crossing area is under constructin now....AR 22 is being worked on right now where there will be an interchange on I-49....
