COMPLETE: The Old Public Safety Surface Lot

Recommended Posts

I was in LaSalle Square tonight and did not see any indication that anything had been removed from either the Empire or Fountain Street facades. I did not have a chance to walk around the Green and Broadway sides though.

Here is a link the Providence Preservation Society's 2007 Most Endagered Properties List. It includes 2 paragraphs on the recent developments related to TPGs attempts to receive ZBR approval to demolish the Former Police and Fire Headquarters.

The most pertinent quote in my opinion is indicated below:

The variance application has been postponed at several Zoning Board of Review meetings because the Board lacked a quorum.

As important as the proper execution of this property's development is, the below link regarding making LaSalle Square more pedestrian friendly is equally as important. The city (meaning government, citizens, developers, etc) needs to follow through on making this happen.

At the DRC meeting where TPG presented their plans for 11 Fountain, Thom Deller said bids for the redesign of LaSalle and Emmet Square and Fountain Street would be going this fall with work starting next spring or summer.

There were workers at the Public Safety complex this morning drilling into the LaSalle Square facade.
