Yeah it's pretty misleading. You can probably chalk it up to an incompetent webmaster because the Westin render on that page is stretched as well. Someone needs a lesson in maintaining aspect ratios.

Yes, it is definitely the wider version that is the actual rendering.

That changes my opinion a little, but do we have any full size renders?

i actually sorta like the look of the building. i just wish it was taller. if they wanted the same space, they could've gone up a few stories and then had a step back and made it maybe 3 stories taller, adding another 40-50 feet.

How can you say that off a tiny distorted render - I mean really. Wait till you see something larger than a pea to start flaming the building.

Having seen more than a tiny pea sized rendering myself I'd have to say it is neither ugly nor uninspired, but actually quite nice. It needs much refining from it's current preliminary state, but it's well on it's way to going in the right direction. I'd just like it to be another 100 feet taller.

ahem, 200 feet is more like it...

100 would be OK though.

I agree.

What bothers me is that if in fact the reduction in height is due to the West Broadway group, I am taken aback by this "small town" approach that many of these groups have. Do they not know there are in the nation's 6th most densely populated city and NE's second largest? But more than that; even with the Rt 95 barrrier they want to claim control over the area of Downcity. How does a 300' building in Downcity adversly impact the other side of Rt 95? How can the Mayor's (I believe) vision of a bigger/ taller PVD work if developers are constricted on height even in the Downcity area?

Did TPG and the city roll over and die? What good is a vision if it is not realized?

On the other hand; is TPG simply downsizing to market realities?

In truth its unlikely any reduction in height had anything to do with what the public had to say. You really think if they felt they could make money off those floors they would simply reduce them because of some West Broadway group? These are the same developers who are putting up a 380 foot tower a few blocks away.

I'm sure the reduction has more to do with markets, cost and design changes. Everyone needs to remember EVERY render to date is only a concept of what the real render will look like.

Are there any expected dates for this project?

Apparently, it's only a barrier when they want it to be (coughMetroloftscoughAtwellsparcelcough).

this reminds me of the renders from the old gtech, when they tried to have it fit the city more, anyone else think so?

I actually came very close to posting the same thing yesterday. It does look like a slightly more modern version of that proposal.

That's actually not bad. Obviously along with everyone else I would prefer another step-back, at maybe 8 floors, and then a more slender tower that is about 8 floors higher, but this isn't horrifle.

Everyone keep in mind this is a CONCEPT of the future render.

They actually will need a variance for the small step back they have. That should change, step backs should be encouraged for tall buildings, or else everyone will really have a point when they complain about them looming over things.
