Ohr-O'Keefe Museum to Open in 2009

The hurricane battered remnants of the Ohr-O'Keefe Museum are about to be resurrected from the rubble. The completion target date has been set for the fall of 2009. There's much work to be done, with twisted metal and hurricane debris filling the site. Some of the building material has even been salvaged for use in other building projects nearby. Still, the $30m project is set to go forward. Let's hope that there won't be more delays or unwanted visitors this time.

Note: I have started a thread for this project as it is one of the most important projects in Mississippi at this time. Please feel free to augment with pictures or commentary.

Ohr-O'Keefe Museum Reconstruction Schedule- 2010 (?)

The reconstruction of the Ohr-O'Keefe Museum is still going forward in spite of the weakening economy. Architect Frank Gehry is committed to the project. Fortunately, the city has learned a few things along the way since the museum was damaged by Katrina which may make its reconstruction easier. The museum is partially open in the Pleasant Reed House and another nearby house as well. Mst of Gehry's buildings are undergoing total reconstruction. it is imperative that this project should go forward. When complete, the campus should be something of a tourist attraction and a lasting monument.
