No "supposedly" about it, it IS the corporate headquarters.

Columbia's may not be as tall, but I think it's more aesthetically pleasing than some of the ones I've seen, including ones that are taller.

Now, if Columbia can just get some high/midrise infill between the BOA tower the other cluster of buildings closer to the statehouse...

Columbia's BofA is the only skyscraper with any variety on its top besides Meridian.

Very true. I grow tired of the "boxy" scrapers.

Charlotte is the BofA HQ, and that is the building, indeed! Charlotte is also the HQ of Wachovia (formerly the HQ of First Union).

The BofA tower in Charlotte may not be the tallest BofA tower, but it is quite a beautiful structure, with the "Queen's Crown" on top, symbolizing Charlotte's nickname as the "Queen City."

San Jose has what is probably the oldest Bank of America tower (founder of BofA was a San Jose native). I'll have to snap a photo of it but until then:

top row, second from the left

BofA is such a part of Bay Area history that it's hard for me to even think of this company headquartered in Charlotte as being Bank of America. It's really just NationsBank with a new name.

Bank of America actually has a deep history in NC, because its roots are also NCNB (North Carolina National Bank) which merely changed names over the course of taking over other banks aka BankAmerica which was Headquartered in California. The bank has always been HQed in Charlotte through its many mergers and takeovers.

It's not as glassy and fancy, but I think it still does the trick. here's Richmond's Bank of America tower:

I guess BofA could be considered the trophy tower builders of today.

Wouldn't say that. Most of these buildings were acquired (or at least their leases were) from other banks as part of take-overs.

I just thought they built quite a few buildings, too.

The one in Atlanta, for example. It was built for what becme BofA.

How could you forget about the BoA Tower in Seattle? One of the most attractive imo.

The BofA Plaza in Atlanta was built for C&S Bank of Atlanta. The original design did not include a spire, the spire was added to the design to take the tallest title in the Southeast from then NC National Bank of Charlotte. A year later while both towers were under construction, NC National Bank bought C&S Bank and became Nations Bank. Nations Bank then bought BankAmerica of San Francisco and became Bank of America.

This is Little Rock, AR - you can see the B of A building on the far left and the logo is clearly visible. It is 25 stories, the 4th tallest building - all the larger buildings are banks as well. The largest, Metropolitan National is 40 stories and hidden on the far side of these buildings.

I live close to downtown Dallas and can see the eerie green from the B of A building here at night. It's one of the most interesting buildings here.

I really like the Seattle BOA because of its sleek design and dark tinted glass. It makes it look really cool.

So love this building! Does anyone remember when it was called SeaFirst & BofA acquired it (I worked there then [1989-1997] in California Retail Marketing)? HQ was THEN based in San Francisco at 555 California Street under my favorite CEO, RICHARD (Dick) ROSENBERG. THE VIEWS from 555 Cal are AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL...
