wow.

question: is this still going to be an indoor deal, b/c the renderings show an outdoor wave pool?

I'm pretty sure it's going to be outdoors. At this point, if they wanted to build a structure around it, wouldn't it have to be very much like a warehouse?

From today's Sentinel:

Hilton is on a Roll

Little more than a month after Hilton Hotels broke ground on its Waldorf-Astoria resort complex in Bonnet Creek, the company plans to begin a second major project adjacent to the Orange County Convention Center. The 1.400-room hotel will get underway May 17 and is expected to open in 2009. Rida Development Co. is developing the project in conjunction with Hilton and Apollo Real Estate Advisors. The project was announced last year with a cost of $350 million. It will contain 130,000 square feet of meeting space on a 26.4-acre site south of the convention center. A pedestrian bridge will connect the massive, 18-story hotel to the center's north concourse.

BING!!!!!

The biggest news so far. 1,400 rooms right at the doorstep of the OCCC. A HUGE impact on booking shows. It might also influence other hotels or brands looking for marketshare to solidify their own plans next to Orlando's ultimate big box.

Looks like they could put a spinning restaurant on the top. Does anyone know what is planned up there on the conning tower?

I don't know, but a new high end restaurant concept is coming to the basement level of the original building though. I believe it will have an ocean theme.

Universal’s award-winning creative team is collaborating with The Simpsons creator and executive producer Matt Groening and executive producer James L. You guys are the ones that mom said to never hang out with.

Ironically, after all of this talk about warnings, I was banned for 10 days by monsoon for posting snippets of newspaper articles on the forum. Fortunately, I happened to be in Vegas for most of the suspension, so it worked out pretty well.

I'll let the moderators answer this one. I don't want to copy and paste a portion of the rules, I might get banned for a year this time. <_<

yeah... I need a refresher on that ass well. I'd assume the rule for articles is the same for photos--- or it should be.

I know I'm not a moderator, but here it is from the Rules section of UrbanPlanet:

Posting of News Clippings, News Links and other Copyrighted Material

The act of simply cutting an article (or part of an article) from an newspaper or other news source and pasting it here without comment is not appreciated and is not allowed at UrbanPlanet. These will be deleted and you may be suspended or banned for doing so.

You may post a very short clip from the article if the source allows it. NO MORE THAN A COUPLE OF SENTENCES. Do not post any copyrighted material if the source does not allow it. Do not create a post that simply contains a link. You must post commentary on why this link is relevant to the topic it is posted in. Your cooperation will be appreciated.

Posts where the first part of the article is copied and a link to the rest of the article are not allowed.

Hope this helps!

Never seen many blogs where at least some fair use is not allowed. The key to me is if the snippet posted is likely to bring someone to the source to look at their whole article and therefore ads.
Very few countries have made a big deal of this, such as small newspapers in Belgium.
