Renovations to the building at 6th and main into 24 apartments, then a 6 story 50 unit apartment building will be built beside it.

I also noticed that Goodstein is involved in this project, which makes me wonder how awesome the skyline would be if Goodstein had built the Centennial Towers, especially now with the announcement of the new Dominion tower!  I still hold out hope that Goodstein will resurrect their Centennial Towers plans.  I think the market could handle it, but I don't have the facts to back that up...it's just a guess (and wish) of mine.

I think how they're handling the Food Trucks is brilliant.  The original plan just had a parking lane on Canal, which would have created a traffic mess at lunchtime.  This plan not only puts the food trucks a more accessible distance from the Fed and Riverfront Tower, but it also will hopefully lure non-hobos into the park itself at lunchtime.

Survey to help transform Main Street Station

The City of Richmond is creating a new public space in the train shed and the area around Main Street Station. The 100,000 square feet of soon-to-be glassed-in space within Main Street Station will be revitalized as a transportation hub with space for experiencing the best of Richmond through recreation, shopping, food and beverage, celebration, tourism, and events. With indoor space the size of an entire city block, this renovation can transform Downtown Richmond by creating a centrally located, historically significant destination for the RVA community.

New Shockoe Bottom apartment development!  $24M project!  This is great news and the project looks nice.  I thought most of the infill areas in the Bottom had already been taken and built on, but I guess not.  I'm ready for some verticle apartments...it just won't happen in Shockoe...Manchester or around the Financial District?

Updates on Quirk Hotel:

Besides the art, other amenities will include a first-floor coffee bar, a restaurant, a community table in the lobby, a fitness center, 2,000 square feet of function space, an outdoor dining area and a rooftop deck with a place for cocktails. Here is more detail on the apartment building going up on 19th st.

"This rendering of Canal Walk 5 shows a 76-unit apartment building going up off 19th Street in Shockoe Bottom. This building will be a prototype for a similar building that Historic Housing plans to build in Scott's Addition."

Crunch Fitness (gym) is expanding and they hinted at moving into a location near the Fan.  From a friend I have who works at a local gym, apparently he heard Crunch will be moving into the vacant first floor of the 3600 West Broad Apartment Building.

That would be a score for the area. I really can't see anything else going into that spot!

It would make good sense too, considering the location of the billboard.
