By calwinston
Description: Rising from Grace Street between 6th and 7th streets, the 179,000-square-foot Richmond CenterStage includes the nearly 82-year-old, 1,678-seat Carpenter Theatre, which has been upgraded with state-of-the-art lighting and a larger stagehouse to accommodate bigger, more extensive performances.

In addition, CenterStage offers guests and performers three separate venues: the multi-use space Rhythm Hall, well-suited for performances, rehearsals or events; the intimate Gottwald Playhouse, with a novel, flexible seating arrangement; and Showcase Gallery, for exhibition of the visual arts. When it opens later this year, the 8,900-square-foot Genworth BrightLights Education Center, located on the third floor, will promote arts in education to the region’s K-12 students.
