Triad Photo of the Day

I'd be interestd in good vantages for taking pics of GSO. I have shot some from the Freeman Mill bridge heading into DT but even that is not really good as it is still too low and has partial obstacles.

I agree. Greensboro's skyline from Freeman Mill road is very weak. thats because the Lincoln Financial building blocks views of the other three tall towers. Greensboro's skyline should also grow from east to west along with a few taller towers and Greensboro's skyline will look good from any direction.

I think I took over 200 photos. I know my memory card is like 2 gigs and can hold over 1,100 photos on high res.

^Are there any buildings you can get to the top of?

well I do know you can go to the top floor of the Marriott. You might have trouble getting past security in the New Wachovia Tower, Renaissance Plaza Building and Lincoln Financial without getting permission first. You may have to expalin that you just want to take pictures of the city. But you can try taking photos from atop the parking decks downtown. The one across the street from governmentel Plaza (bounded by Greene, Washington and South Elm) might be a good spot. I havent seen any photo taken from up there nor have I ever been up there.

Have tried the top of the parking garage, the problem is that it is in the center of DT, so you can only really get a sliver of DT. If I had a tripod I might be able to piece together a panoramic, but even then the hotel and the building adjacent to the garage block a portion of the full shot. You're talking about the garage next to Liberty Oak right?

F.M. limited shots.

Could someone takes of pics of the skyline from the Koury Convention Center? 421 coming north into the city? Also, there are some pretty good views from Bus 85-40 going into the city at the Lee St exit.

Koury would be an interesting one, though would seem to require a powerful camera, I have a Nikon D80 with a pretty nice lens but only goes to 130mm, no matter, will have to see if I can stop over after work. I'm blanking on "Bus 85-40 going into the city at the Lee St exit", though there are a couple of high bridges between Lee and DT, is one of those must be what you're referring to blburton?

The angle at Wendover after Battleground but just before it turns back into boulevard would be good too if you could get on top some of the buildings around there, basically get about 20 feet off of the ground. Or we could bring Mobuchu up here, he seems to get some crazy angles and views of CLT. Helicopter anyone? :)

lol...one thing I hate though is that darn cell phone tower that was place right smack in the view of Greensboro's skyline from Wendover Ave. if you are good with photoshop you might be able to edit it out

very nice DAAcheiver :) How do you make the trailing tail lights on your photos?

the less light you have to work with, the longer the exposure you need. you'll need to use a tripod if you want to get clear night shots. of course, the longer the exposure, the more blurring there is with anything that moves across the shot.

I bet night shots would be even more impressive. I think that's when the Gboro skyline looks its best. Centerpointe will definitely augment this. From the vantage point you give cityboi, it seems as if Gboro's skyline just pops up out of a forest or something lol.

very nice! Greensboros skyline dont look bad from that angle. Ive been up to the top floor of the Koury. im sort of scared of heights so I get just a liitle bit nervous when im on the elevator going up the high.

This is probabally the best distant view of Greensboro's skyline. im just waiting for that 30-story tower next to Center Pointe :)
