It will be years, if ever, that Starbucks drops another store in the Greenville Market, corporate store at least. They are limiting new stores in US to 250 per year until further evaluation.

Next one for this area, is set for the downtown Mariott.

Looks like Coffee UG will be safe for a bit.

"Years, if ever?!?" :blink: Greenville is a growing market, and one that is easily one of the 100 largest U.S. markets (if not top 50). Starbucks will definitely be adding locations in our area, and it will be sooner rather than later. Do you really think we are that insignificant in the grand scheme of things?

That is wrong. I can think of at least five locations in the Greenville metro area where a Starbuck's is in the works. The one at Marriott is not a full fledge Starbuck's but rather just breakfast drinks/food for hotel guests. Why would Coffee Underground not be safe? It caters to a different crowd than Starbuck's. :huh:

I would rather not see 5 additional Starbucks.....we have plenty of locations as is. I'd love to see Liquid Highway be highly successful with their expansion, so we could celebrate having a major coffee chain based here.

If not more of the homegrowns, then I'd at least like to see Peet's or Caribou before more Starbucks.

250 new stores a year doesn't sound all that limiting.

Oh I agree. I personally don't like Starbuck's myself due to the fact their wi-fi isn't free and a cup of coffee there costs more than a gallon of gas. I tend to go to Port City Java the most when it comes to coffee shops. :)

Luckily you can usually pick up wi-fi from somewhere else while at Starbuck's, haha. :P

Wow. This isn't your ordinary Spinx. Stewart Spinx is taking convenience stores / gas stations to the next level with some architectural detail. This is the newest Spinx under construction at Augusta Road / I-185 Southern Connector. Would love to see Spinx eventually redo all their locations to this standard. :thumbsup:

Simpsonville's Main Street road diet is coming along nicely. I think it will definitely slow traffic and create a better overall feel downtown.

I'm looking forward to Mauldin's overhaul, too. Hopefully Mauldin's Main Street plans will be of a higher quality than other Mauldin projects, which typically end up coming across as "the easy and cheapest way out" to me.

I was through Simpsonville proper a few days ago and noticed this. Looking good. The poles on arms, buried power lines, future planters in the middle of the street all were looking great. The only negative was the sidewalks.....way too narrow.....white concrete with only a small strip of red brick next to the road. This part looked a little cheap. Seems they could have done plantings along the sidewalks by the street.

In the end, a great improvement all around.

The City is planning to paint its bicycle lanes a solid color (perhaps green?) in a similar manner as those found in other progressive U.S. and European cities. The idea is to help auto drivers become more aware of cyclists and avoid straying over the line. According to the fact-based research, this has been relatively effective elsewhere. Physically-separated bicycle lanes would be the most effective safety measure, but that would be more difficult and costly to build at this point.

It looks like "major" renovations and brand changes are coming to the old Budget Inn on Mills Avenue in the greater downtown area. They're applying to encroach on a setback along Mills, which you can see here: Application (though no renderings). It will be a comfort suites.

This is great news for that structure. Mainly because it looks awful right now, but having it running as a somewhat nicer hotel should help matters, too.
