That is a cute age.  I hope she's enjoying soccer.  I have fond memories of playing it growing up. :)

I coached soccer at the Pickens County Y for many years. That was one of the most enjoyable experiences in my life. I have been a huge fan of the sport and learned how much I love teaching kids to play properly. :)

Indeed. Not only is my daughter learning to play soccer, but she's also having her lessons in Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility reinforced. It's been very rewarding for her (and us).

Thanks g-man and Brad for these links! Looks great! These are the best renderings I've seen to date and it looks like there is going to be retail in the ground floor of some of the buildings. Is that correct? I guess I had assumed it would be condos only. This is really going to change West End for the better!

^ I heard a rumor that the small row of buildings beside Brick Street Cafe is about to be redone into retail space. This should help with some infill around the stadium. I also saw where there are signs on several properties on Pendleton (Main) between the stadium and Augusta...after the stadium opens, I bet these get redone quickly.

I got a verification from the folks at the Greenville Bombers Tent at Fall for Greenville today on the following:

- There will indeed be a new name for the team, but the team is being very tight-lipped on what that name is until it is announced. Some possible choices that were mentioned to me today are: Spinners, Drive, Green Sox.

- The new name has been determined in part by the naming contest at the end of last season, in part by a survey of former season ticket holders, and in part by some other consultation with other members of the community.

- The new ballpark will, indeed, have Wi-Fi Internet service and should be marketing that when the new season comes around.

Stop on by the Bombers Tent at Fall for Greenville and register to win season tickets or just purchase them out right.

I am glad to see that our "Green Sox" choice is supposedly one of the considerations. However, I don't understand the logic behind the other two. I assume "Spinners" is due to Greenville's textile past. I don't like that name, not only because we aren't the textile city we once were, but also because that name was used years ago by a minor league basketball team that played at the old Memorial Auditorium.

I think "Drive" is the stupidest name yet. Please, let's not do that.

Keeping my fingers crossed for "Green Sox." The marketability and recognizability of that name is ten times what it would be for something like "Spinners" or "Drive." People will want to buy memorabilia with that on it, but there is no way anyone will think anything "Spinners" or "Drive" is cool. And plus, "Green Sox" fits because we are Greenville and a minor league affiliate of the Red Sox.
