Spent some time in downtown Fort Lauderdale, the largest city and the seat of government for Broward County. Downtown is very clean, walkable, and picturesque. With downtown located a few miles west of the Intracoastal Waterway, the New River plays a more dominant role in the downtown's character.

This has totally changed my view of Fort Lauderdale. What a very beautiful city from the pictures prespective of course. You are correct, the downtown area appears very clean. My stays in Florida have been in Boca and I fear that I have not taken the time to drive the short distance to Fort Lauderale. The next time I am in Boca I will definitely visit this lovely city for myself. I am totally impressed.

Thank you for sharing.

PART II - LAS OLAS ENTERTAINMENT DISTRICT

Las Olas Boulevard is Fort Lauderdale's main drag through downtown. West of Federal Highway (US 1) you will find high-rise office buildings and condo towers. East of US 1 is the entertainment district, which features shops, boutiques, and a vibrant nightlife, seven days a week.

THE RIVERFRONT

The New River goes through the heart of Fort Lauderdale. Downtown, most high-rise development is on the north side of the river, with mostly government buildings (courthouse, jail, etc.), law offices, etc., on the south side. A Riverwalk extends along the north and south banks of the river.

I'm glad you enjoyed them! :) You should definitely take that short excursion to Fort Lauderdale. Head to Hollywood while you're at it too. And heck, you've driven far down, why you don't you take a trek down to Miami and Miami Beach too. ;)

These are some of the best pics I've seen! You're right, Ft. Laud is VERY clean, in an almost Boca-like sterile environment lol. I like how their office towers have good street level retail, which is key for a pedestrian downtown. I can't wait to see what else is in store for downtown!!!
