Chatham Coast Guard Station's lighthouse illuminates the beginning's of Sunday's snow storm, a snow and rain mix whipped by high winds. The storm worsened overnight, dumping up to 18 inches of snow and leaving some 25,000 Cape Cod residents without power.

Heavy snow build-up on the wires have caused many wires to break or sag. Coated tree limbs also snapped, often short-circuiting powerlines. Utility crews worked two nights in a row in frigid, windy conditions, to restore power.
