  1. "WOW! That's a hotel? Is that a 5-star hotel?", says my son as we drive up Broadway. Pictures don't do this one justice. This is very impressive while driving up Broadway at night

  6. I absolutely oppose the language in the referendum, because I think it's a Trojan horse. However, I also think that the mayor and council members are completely blind to how this year is affecting the finances to many individuals and small businesses. Demanding a 34% increase in a year when you are limiting bars and restaurants on capacity, and in which many people have either lost jobs or have reduced income is just insane. Let's not forget about the tornado. Why are citizens expected to tighten their belts, but the government should be fully funded? I think a modest increase

This will be 9 stories facing 2nd Ave.South, and 10 stories facing the alley on the west side. 14. I wonder if this will be the final nail in the coffin for Epicentre as it currently exists. If I remember correctly, mgmt at Epicentre announced at the end of last year that they are moving away from entertainment to retail and offices, but would be waiting until after the RNC. With covid, it seems those plans moved up by several months as businesses have been closing for good (Jason's Deli, Firehouse Subs, Studio Movie Grill - which announced their closure BEFORE the pandemic - etc.). The new business model could suffice until this development is completed in 2024/2025, but once completed

  16. This may be off-topic, but why doesn’t Sycamore (private equity firm that owns Belk) buy Lord & Taylor? Belk wants to expand nationally and apparently wanted to buy JCPenney. Lord & Taylor is shutting down. It has some really good real estate and a brand name that has value. Belk could get some good sites in the Northeast and could operate them like Belk stores, but with the L&T name on some of them. To me, Belk’s market segment is unclear: some stores are higher end and some are lower-end. It could clear this up by designating some of its higher-end stores as

  17. There will be a virtual meeting this Thursday related to the Ph3 Pulse Corridor rezoning program north of Broad in the Carver\Newtowne area. I'm not sure what I signed up for to receive this email but if anyone is interested I can forward this to them if you message me. I'm sure there is a link somewhere on the city site or the Richmond300 site but I can't seem to find it. This rezoning is up for city council vote next week I believe - so this may be the last public meeting unless it gets pushed out again. A note about the Title - I added Allison District to reference the area between Lo

  24. I would rather see Vandy out here than another St. Thomas add-on. I know a lot of people who refuse to use MTMC because of the way they've been treated there...so they either drive all the way to Stone Crest or into Nashville. I think Vandy would give residents in a county nearing 300k another choice, at least. You already have St. Thomas and Tri-Star...so Vandy would be a welcome alternative.

  28. Its only 2 lanes along that route. I'd say there is close to zero chance that it gets reduced to 1 lane for regular traffic (without designated left turns either) and 1 designated for a bus. There's always a maybe, but I just really doubt it will happen. 3 lanes can't happen without a significant acquisition of private property at great expense. To do 3 lanes you'd essentially be destroying the homes of people that live "in town" in order to make it easier for people that made the choice to live 16 miles away from their job and not in city limits, to have an easy commute. A different alte

  31. Nice to get this route back seasonally! I just returned from a 30-day working vacation in Mexico, including a long weekend stay in Puerto Vallarta and neighboring Sayulita on the Riveria Nayarit. Pro Tip: If you’re on the west coast of Mexico, don’t let the US Department if State’s Do Not Travel warning scare you away from Mazatlan (in Sinaloa) or Acapulco. Both are beautiful, and I couldn’t have felt more safe, even after dark. Plus everything is cheaper, the food is better, and you actually feel like you’re in Mexico.

New townhomes being built around the parking deck behind the retail center and Whole Foods with garages too. True walkable surburban town center that is hugely popular. Apartments, for sale townhomes and SF homes, retirement center, office buildings, retail center, outparcels equals major south Charlotte success.

  36. @Mgelbach That building of yours along the rails was built as the Light rail was a-coming. Residents and owners knew it was on a rail line. It was as plain as day. Once the light rail started operating the trains would slow for each crossing and blow horn, per protocol. This meant from 5:45 am until late night the trains both directions announced themselves beside your building. There were no other new residential building on the line at that time, only the long timers a bit further away. Your building mobilised to complain about the disruption and was successful in changing the protocol
