I'm thinking Publix also. While I think a Whole Foods might do well in Macon, I'm not sure Whole Foods would consider Macon their type of market. There's also a Fresh Market just a couple of miles from this location. (Of course, there's another Publix relatively close by too, so...)

Developers to ask P&Z to rezone land on Zebulon Road east of Northway Church to build retail shopping center (possible grocery store, national retailers, etc.), approx. 200k - 250k square feet. Main anchor would be approx 50,000 square feet, with about a dozen other spots for smaller retailers. Also several outparcels. Should go before P&Z later in October.

Looks lilke the 55,000 square-foot building going up across from The Shoppes at River Crossing will be a Hobby Lobby store. It's expected to open in 2014. http://www.macon.com/2013/09/03/2643962/hobby-lobby-to-open-store-in-north.html

There are three building planned for the site, according to their P&Z request from January. The largest building, in the back left corner of the property, would be just over 55,000 square feet. Two smaller buildings, around 6,000 - 8,000 square feet, would be in the right front. The P&Z app listed possible uses as commercial/retail. Here's the P&Z agenda from Jan. 28, 2013 (see page 32)

I haven't gotten confirmation, but I've been told by a source in local government that a new Chick-Fil-A is going up on Bass Road in front of Publix.

The Telegraph has pulled that story, saying it's not accurate. Apparently the 870 jobs from NCR are headed to Columbus. Macon Telegraph: Report of 800 Jobs Not True

That was Texas Cattle Company. Music City Grill was two doors down, where Loco's is now.

    The Shoppes at River Crossing

I know I'm nitpicking, but why do folks keep referring to this as a mall? I've heard radio commercials for the Kia dealer saying "across the street from the new mall." Last I checked, it's not a mall. By the way, they now have a web site... Shoppes At River Crossing

    North Macon Towne Centre

There's a Hilton Homewood Suites planned for the (Providence) North Macon Town Center, and a Drury Inn slated to be built as part of the Lullwater Village development just across I-75. A Microtel Inn & Suites is supposed to be built on Bowman Road, just off Bass.

Not much in the way of specifics, but there is now a web site for the development. There is a site plan map, showing two phases of construction, with locations for the hotels and retail. Tough to read, but it does give an idea of layout. The web site gives the project opening date as November 2008.
